Tear-Aid Type A Large Repair Patch
Tear-Aid Type A is the go-to field repair solution for kites, wingsuits, neoprene, harnesses and any fabric-based gear that takes a hit. A single patch creates a permanent, flexible, airtight and watertight seal that moves with the material rather than cracking or peeling away from it. The matte-finish polyurethane elastomer stretches up to 600% before tearing โ more elastic than the fabric it’s repairing in most cases โ and the aggressive adhesive bonds immediately to a clean surface with no heat, glue or stitching required.
We sell Tear-Aid off the roll in 15cm ร 15cm (6″ ร 6″) squares. Each unit = one square. If you need a longer patch, simply order multiple units:
- 30cm long โ order 2
- 45cm long โ order 3
- 60cm long โ order 4
All patches are 15cm (6″) wide. Type A is formulated for fabrics and most non-vinyl surfaces โ if you’re repairing a PVC or vinyl product, you need Type B instead.

- 600% elongation โ stretches further than the surrounding material, won’t bridge or pucker under load

Construction
Tear-Aid is manufactured from a high-performance polyurethane elastomer โ the same class of material used in industrial protective films and flexible membranes. The adhesive layer uses an aggressive pressure-sensitive formula that forms an immediate mechanical bond on contact with a clean surface. Unlike standard fabric tapes or iron-on patches, Tear-Aid flexes with the substrate rather than fighting it, which is why it holds through repeated inflation cycles on kite bladders and movement stress on neoprene. The matte finish prevents the telltale glossy giveaway of other clear tapes and minimises light reflection on canopies in the air.
Why We Recommend It
A torn bladder or a ripped canopy at the beach doesn’t have to end your session. Tear-Aid Type A is the one repair item we tell every kiter and wing foiler to keep in their bag. It takes 60 seconds to apply, holds through a full session and provides a lasting repair that can be re-covered with a permanent fix later if needed. Need more than one square? Just add the quantity you need at checkout โ each unit is one 15cm square, and they butt together seamlessly for longer repairs.
