Sea to Summit Tie Down with Silicone Cam Cover
Getting your board, kayak, or SUP onto a roof rack shouldn’t mean risking scratches to your hull or paintwork. Sea to Summit’s Tie Down straps solve this with a silicone sleeve over the die-cast alloy cam buckle, creating a soft barrier between the metal hardware and your boat or vehicle roof. The result is a strap that’s strong enough for serious transport loads but won’t leave marks on a gel coat or paint finish.
Available in three lengths and colour-coded for quick identification, these straps are designed for paddlers and water sports enthusiasts who transport gear regularly. Meets both Australian and European lashing standards. Sold as a pair.

Construction
The webbing is 28 mm UV-stabilised polyester with an easy-feed design that threads through the cam buckle smoothly even with gloves on. The cam buckle itself is die-cast alloy for strength and durability. The defining feature is the fitted silicone rubber cover over the buckle โ it’s firm enough to stay in place under load but soft enough to sit safely against fibreglass, gel coat, or painted surfaces without marking them.
Why We Recommend It
We stock these because they’re the strap we actually want to use ourselves. Most tie-downs are fine for the load but the bare metal cam will eventually leave marks on whatever it contacts โ a problem if you’re loading a nice surfboard or touring kayak. The silicone cover fixes that without compromising the buckle at all. If you’re transporting quality gear on a roof rack, these are the ones to get.
