Aluula is a Dyneema-based composite material developed for kite and paragliding applications. In the Vortex Ultra-X V2, the Aluula frame covers the entire leading edge and all three struts — providing 38% greater tensile strength and up to 7× the tear resistance of Dacron at 30% less weight. The V2 introduces a new lightweight double ripstop canopy on the 10m through 17m sizes, reducing the mass of the larger kites by up to 150g while maintaining the same high-tenacity properties as the triple ripstop used on smaller sizes. Anti-flap reinforcements are added to the trailing edge at the points most exposed to repeated load cycles during kiteloops, significantly extending canopy life under competition-level use.
