KR Club – Kite & Wing Camp Weekend
2nd/3rd Dec 2023 – 24th/25th Feb 2024 – 13th/14th Apr 2024
We’ll be meeting on Saturday at 7:00-7:30am at the Kite Republic School on St Kilda West Beach and start driving to our camping spot a few minutes later (Wind forecast dependent). We will be back in Melbourne on Sunday night, usually after 8pm. You will need your own camping equipment.
WHAT IS A KITE CAMP WEEKEND?
Depending on the forecast we’ll be setting out to the place most likely to produce great winds for the weekend, if there is no wind we will have backups and possibly a little surfing or SUPing might be in order, as well as this we’ll organize a breakfast, 2 lunches and a dinner for everyone.
This is a social weekend trip aimed at all levels of kite & wingfoiler, the only requirement is that you have your own gear and kiters have had 3 lessons (ie. at a board starting level), wing foilers can manage their wing and return to shore on their knees ok.
As we have lots of interest in these awesome weekends, they will be limited to the first 18 people as we have allocated 3 instructors for the day.
AM I GOOD ENOUGH & WHO ARE WE STUCK WITH?
Firstly, you must have a basic safe independent level. Provided kiters have had 3 lessons and wingers can manage their wing and return to shore fine on their knees then YES, you are likely at the right level! For the beginners, Kite Republic Coaches will be there for the day ready to help out, for the intermediate and advanced riders not only will there be instructors but some of Victoria’s highest level riders coming along to offer advice and push you to your limits!
We will be carpooling, this is a great social way to meet other kiters on the way. We suggest you give your driver $20 to cover their costs. Carpooling will be sorted on the day before. If we don’t need your car there’s free parking across the road from the beach and in front of Kite Republic School.
WHAT DO I NEED?
You will need all of your basic equipment (kiting or wing) as well as basic camping provisions, for example a tent, mattress, sleeping bag and appropriate season clothing. Good times guaranteed! If you’re not a camper then most locations will allow for upgraded cabin accomodation.
Cost of the weekend will be $399 to cover staff, accommodation sites and food (1xBreakfast, 2xLunch and 1xDinner).
Can’t wait to get everyone out there, going to be an awesome weekend!
