However, you can still get on the water for supervised gear hire with a qualified instructor, giving you the freedom to ride while ensuring everyone stays safe and covered. Our Kite and Wing Progression Lessons can be as simple as having an experienced riding buddy on hand, picking up a few tips to refine your technique, or even getting some photos or footage of you out on the water.

Kiteboarding Equipment Hire – Melbourne (Advanced Riders Only)
Description:
Hire premium kiteboarding equipment right here in Melbourne and hit the water with confidence. Our hire service is strictly for independent, experienced kiteboarders who can safely ride upwind and handle self-rescue.
We offer the latest Duotone, Naish, and Core kites, bars, boards, harnesses, and wetsuits — all from our St Kilda Sea Baths location. Choose between half-day or full-day hire.
First time hiring from us? You’ll be paired with an instructor to confirm your independence with a 30–60 min safety check, included in your first hire fee.

Complete Set Hire (Kite & Bar, Board, Harness, Wetsuit):
- 📌 Full-Day: $350 AUD
- 📌 Half-Day (3 Hours): $190 AUD
- 📌 First-Time Hire: $350 (includes instructor session)
Individual Gear Hire (Per Day):
- Kite: $100

Requirements for Hire:
To rent kiteboarding gear from KR, you must:
- ✅ Be an independent rider (IKO Level 3 or higher)
- ✅ Confidently ride upwind and handle variable conditions
- ✅ Know how to perform a self-rescue
- ✅ Complete the equipment waiver form before pickup
- 🧑🏫 First-time renter? A 30–60 minute skill check with an instructor is required and included in the full-day fee.
A refundable cash or card deposit of up to $500 may be required at the time of pickup.
