What better way to start your Australia Day?

The Port Phillip Cup has a long standing tradition in Melbourne on Australia Day, and 2017 did not disappoint. Yes, it could have been a little warmer, and yes, the wind could have been a little calmer, but these minor details go almost unnoticed when you get such an enthusiastic and passionate group of people together competing in something they love.

3The Standup Paddle Boarding race community has flourished here in Melbourne over the past 4 or 5 years. Not only due to great events like this run by SUPVIC but in a massive way due to passionate coaches running a number of morning training groups around the bay. It’s proven not only to be a great way to increase your fitness and skills on the water, but also a fantastic social group with so many people passionate about being on the water and sharing that.

Back to the event though…

2Congratulations to SUPVIC for a very successful event. Despite the weather and rougher conditions than expected, the day was full of smiles and fun, as well as passionate high end racing with competitors giving it their all and practically falling over the line at times.

Full results will be on the SUPVIC website soon, but a massive congratulations to Heath Meldrum and Jean Ringrose for taking our the Port Phillip Cup AGAIN!!!

Congratulations to everyone that took part, we look forward to seeing you on the water soon.
