Mauritius 2025 KR Trip – Mother Nature Delivered

Mauritius 2025 KR Trip – Mother Nature Delivered

What a trip! We honestly couldn’t have asked for better conditions or a better crew. Mauritius gave us 13 straight days of wind, with a mix of small and solid swells thrown in. And just as we were packing to leave, the wind finally dropped, giving us a taste of Mauritius’ warm, sunny winter weather. Perfect timing!

On the water, everyone scored big. Most of us were clocking two sessions a day, with a few maniacs sneaking in a third. Add in sea kayak downwinders and the stoke levels were through the roof. The progression was incredible—our newest teammate, Richie, went from total beginner to independent kiteboarder in just two weeks! The beginner-friendly lagoon and steady wind definitely helped.

The waves were a massive highlight. Almost everyone ventured 2–3km out to ride the fast, powerful swells. Will was always the first one out there, charging hard and showing off his wave-riding skills, while John gave us all a masterclass in smooth, effortless style. Phil, the fitness machine, started holding back for the right sets, and by the end was catching gems right in the pocket. Marc, our twintip guy, discovered the magic of waves and is now seriously thinking of switching disciplines. Sofia looked rock-solid on her directionals, nailing her jibes and tacks, and pushing herself into the bigger waves.

Our wing crew, Darry and Will, had their own breakthrough moments. After a few tries at the reef and Plateau Rouge, they were flagging the wing and carving waves—faces lit up with pure stoke every time they came out of the water. Sonia, our non-kiter/winger this year, kept the vibe high with surf ski sessions and even nailed a big downwinder alongside some of the world’s best paddlers. Legends all around.

We had heaps of water time. Unfortunately, we ran into some camera issues, so we don’t have photos while we were out on the waves—it was a bit far from shore and pretty hard to capture anyway. Still, here’s a recap of some moments from throughout the trip. The shots don’t do justice to what went down out there, but to be honest, we were too busy enjoying ourselves! Keep an eye out for a couple of reels coming next week that will wrap up the highlights nicely.

Off the water, we made sure to give our blistered hands and sore bodies some rest. Highlights included hiking up Le Morne, exploring Casela Nature Park, wandering Port Louis markets, visiting the whales (absolutely magical), and a few epic dinners out. When we weren’t adventuring, you’d find us with massages, cocktails, yoga, aquarobics… or just laughing around the pool.

Speaking of laughs, Camila’s 6th birthday was one to remember. Between hotel friends, cake, and a questionable fireworks setup (we almost launched ourselves instead of the fireworks), it was a night full of smiles. Big thanks to everyone for making her feel so special, and especially to my wife for her patience while I kited non-stop!

Mauritius gave us it all—wind, waves, adventure, progression, laughter, and memories that will stick forever. Already looking forward to the next adventure with this crew.

Loving what I do,
Cesar
