KR Snowkiting 2018

KR Snowkiting 2018

We had it all… the KR Snowkiting 2018 trip began with a little too much base snow to even climb onto the hill, enter Basil!

A chainsaw, 2 shovels and a little Basil creativity and we had the perfect steps to exit the road and head up onto the hill, top work mate!

By the end of the weekend everyone had kited to their hearts content (maybe not Galvin, but he’s an energizer bunny 😉 We had about half a day of perfect bluebird kiting, another half a day of unbelievable snow, but touch and go visibility, another couple of hours of hanging out, building a half igloo sitting area, listening to music and talking through the many aspects of Snowkiting that are just that bit different to what’s on the water.

Nàgen made an appearance in the lodge games, but this years standout was definitely the Indo board. Funny how a few drinks and a good challenge or two can create some near disasters on toys like this. All was good and plenty of laughs were had.

On the water it was awesome to see Alex, David, Vlad, Matty, Matt and Amanda making awesome leaps forwards in their first snowkiting experiences. Each and every one of them looking super comfortable by the end of the weekend and able to explore and try a range of new tricks. Phil & Galvin were definitely in a boosting war with both of these guys going huge (and sometimes bigger than expected for sure), and Basil well and truly took out the adventurer award after finding a number of fresh tracks to throw snow out of cornices and make it look really bloody good. Always great to have Simo’s experience and passion for the snow side of things on board, cheers for sharing and getting everyone even more stoked mate.

Amanda, awesome job on the food, thanks for sorting that out and being awesome!

Looking forward to catching up with everyone back in Melbourne and seeing you all on the water soon!
