The National Kiteboarding League (NKL) has proven in its first season to be a great initiative adding a new flair to the Aussie (& Kiwi) competition scenes. Congratulations to David and his team on a solid first season.

This past weekend saw the final leg of the state events hitting Victoria. From here the winners from each of the 6 stops across Australia and NZ will face off during the final on the gold coast in 2 weeks.

The Victorian leg was hotly contested and saw both the nkl1freestyle and wave categories being completed at Ocean Grove, with St Kilda not quite providing solid enough winds to kick things off back here.

The Kite Republic Crew were out in force and took out a good chunk of the major prizes.

In his return to competition after injury kept him off the nkl2water for far too long Ewan Jaspan (KR/Naish) took out a clean sweep by dominating in the Open Men’s Freestyle and backed that up by winning the Big Air as well.

Katie Potter (KR/Naish) solidified her position as one of Australia’s top female kiters by dominating the Open Women’s Freestyle category with one of her Katie Potter Girls League participants Sofia Carreno (KR/North) showing how motivating the sessions have been by stepping it up hugely this season and taking third spot in the open Women’s.nkl3

Jeremy Robinson (KR/Naish) showed his new Naish Torch’s must be suiting him well by taking third position in the Open Men’s after only a couple of weeks on the new toys which Aaron Kebbell (KR/Naish) took out third spot among a tough field in the Juniors.

We wish you the best of luck in the NKL Final on the Gold Coast in 2 weeks!
