Worlds First Nationally Broadcasted SUP Event

With the grand opening of Melbourne’s first 100% SUP shop, the KR SUP Centre just around the corner, it is fantastic to see the sport starting to get the recognition it has been building towards the past few years.

There are literally hundreds of SUP races around Australia throughout the summer season ranging from fun community paddle and giggle style, through to world class elite racing on any given weekend. Combine this with the thousands of wave hunters getting out there any given day, the white water junkies that seem to be getting bolder by the week, as well as the social paddlers and touring crew and you’re starting to see just a minute part of what this amazing sport is all about.

It was brilliant to see great effort and organisation from the crew at the 2015 Payette River Games where they created the worlds first nationally broadcasted SUP event in Cascade, Idaho.

Great to see some big names getting involved and the event itself (especially the SUP-X) looked like an absolute blast.

Here’s some of the CBS footage!
