With our professionally qualified staff (International Kiteboarding Organization (IKO) Registered and/or Brittish Kitesurfing Association (BKSA)) you will enjoy a fast and safe progression into this sport.

Our aim of these lessons is to provide you with the skills and knowledge to have you up and riding as fast and safely as possible.

We manage your skill and confidence level development to the point where you can kite freely and independently of our training environment. Leaving you to enjoy the adventures of Kiteboarding safely at your leisure.

HOW DO I LEARN?

 

There are 3 different steps you must go through in becoming a confident and safe Kiteboarder.

 

1: "Kite Pilot"(on the beach)

This important first step is the fastest and safest way to learn and develop solid kite skills before you attempt to use a board. 80% of Kiteboarding is kite control.

Will also cover local site orientation, the wind window, safety systems, flying 4-line power-kites, the power zone, set-up, launching/landing full sized 4-line inflatable kites, basic Kiteboarding etiquette.

2: "Body Drag "(shallow water lesson)

This session is designed to help you gain the confidence you need to be hooked into the kite, use the safety systems and gain the skills of self-rescue in the water.

Also covers Set up and Safety skill review, using a harness, hooking in, using the safety systems, power/de-power, body dragging, water relaunching your kite, self-rescue.

3: "Board Rider "(on the water)
 
     
 
Now that you can Pilot a full sized kite in the water with safe, confident control, you are ready to progress to a board. In this lesson you will develop the skills you need to Kiteboard safely and successfully on your own.

Also covers unassisted set-up and launching, tuning the kite, water starting, edging and board control, changing direction, staying up wind.

SO HOW DO I GET STARTED AND WHAT DO THE LESSONS COST?
 
     
 
Kite Republic has 3 ways for you to learn.
 
     
 

1. Learn for Free:

This offer is unique to Kite Republic. Taking you from a complete beginner to advanced rider as fast as you want to progress. Buy a New kite + board and harness from us and we will provide unlimited FREE tuition.

 
     
 

2. Private lessons:

One on one, looking at whatever you as an individual needs at a time that suits you. Lessons are 90min and cost $130. Extra person $50. 7 days and bookings are essential. (From scratch it will take about 3 to 4 private lessons to be confident)

 
     
 

3. 3 Lesson Base package :

3 private classes (90 minutes each)

+ unlimited use of our trainer kites between lessons for $360 (add $150 for each additional person joining for all 3 lessons).

 
     
 

3. Special offer - 'Passport to Ride' course:

3 private classes (90 minutes each)

+ unlimited use of our trainer kites between lessons

+ a 2 hour supervised water practice session

+ International Kiteboarding Kiteboarder Workbook

How long does it take to learn to Kiteboard?

Based on the hundreds of students taught. It takes an average student with little or no experience approx. 5-8 hours of professional instruction with ideal wind and water conditions to learn the basics. Your instructors primary concern is your safety and enjoyment. Your primary concern should be the same.

Do I need to be strong to do this sport?

No. However, you do need to be in reasonable physical condition. Always consult your doctor before beginning such activities that have the potential to be physically demanding.

How much does it cost for Kiteboarding equipment and where do I get it?

Initial start up costs are comparable to most action sports ... but after that, wind is Free. Your Kite Republic instructor can guide you in selecting the correct equipment for your individual needs and even supply it to you.

Is the sport dangerous?

Like other action sports, there is an inherent danger to you and others around you if the proper safety systems, equipment, training and techniques are Not fully utilized. Exercise good judgment and know your limitations. Always wear and use the proper safety equipment.
